New seasons of CW's superhero shows are still a few months away. With the recent release of two sets of pictures, though, there are hints of how the new season will look. At least two vigilantes from the universe are going to look slightly different.

When The Flash season 3 ended, Barry willingly went into the Speed Force and gave up his position of protector of Central City to Wally West. It was unclear at the time if Wally would keep the name of Kid Flash or (as happened in the comics) fully take over the mantle of The Flash from Barry. Thanks to new set photos, it appears that things will follow the latter route.

Snapshots from Keiynan Lonsdale on The Flash set confirm that Wally will wear Barry's red suit at least once on camera. There appears to be no major alterations to the suit other than than the obvious, that it has been fitted for Lonsdale's body and not Grant Gustin's. This seems to confirm that The Flash will truly tell the Rebirth storyline in the comics where Barry returned from the "dead" after Wally had served as The Flash for years. (Though the tenure of Wally's Flash run will likely be greatly reduced.)

In the comics, once Barry returned, Wally remained a Flash alongside him. Wally never returned to Kid Flash again. It is not certain if The Flash will follow the same pattern or if Wally will return to being Kid Flash when Barry makes his inevitable return. The Flash already has a second Flash on the show in the form of Jay Garrick but Jay is only a very infrequent guest star while Wally would presumably still be a series regular in season 4. Since The Flash season 3 also introduced a new suit for Barry from his future self it is conceivable that Gustin could wear a version of that outfit in season 4 alongside Lonsdale in the old suit without too much confusion.

Wally's new (or borrowed) duds are just one half of what has been released lately. Through much more official channels, Arrow has unveiled its third, or second depending on how you want to count it, Black Canary. Though Juliana Harkavy was brought onto Arrow in season 5 to fill the role of the team left empty after Laurel Lance's death, she didn't officially take on the Black Canary name until the season 5 finale. Dinah didn't even wear much of a costume besides a simple mask for most of the season.

This is no longer the case. For season 6 Dinah will truly have her own Black Canary costume, according to a new photo from Entertainment Weekly. The new Black Canary suit is much more streamlined than Laurel Lance's outfit. It shares more with Sara Lance's Canary outfit from Arrow seasons 2 and 3 than anything that Laurel wore, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Dinah certainly looks impressive in the suit no matter how simple it might be in design.

Speaking about the new suit, Arrow co-showrunner Wendy Mericle told EW, "We had talked about having the costume at various points last season and it never felt right. It felt that we wanted to save it for a special occasion, and the premiere seemed like a really good place to do it. She needs something tactical. She has this meta power, but she also has the bo staff, so we just felt it was right for her to have something that was definitely more than a nod to the DCU character, but also something that was distinctive from what we've seen before. This really fits the bill."

When asked what Dinah's new suit means for the cliffhanger of season 5 when Dinah was ostensibly on the island that Prometheus blew up, Mericle admitted that this does mean that Dinah likely survived. Yet this doesn't mean the cliffhanger will be meaningless. "No matter what, our hope is that finale was powerful and also very destructive," the showrunner explained. "It literally did blow up Oliver's past, but I think in many ways it's a reset for all of the characters. It was traumatic. It's a big traumatic event that will definitely have huge reverberations throughout the whole season really for Oliver, but for everybody."

So what do you think of the new suits? Who looks better, Dinah as Black Canary or Wally as The Flash? How long do you think Wally's transformation as The Flash will last?

The Flash season 3 will premiere on Tuesday, October 10 at 8/7c. Arrow season 6 will premiere on Thursday, October 12 at 9/8c on The CW. Want more news? Like our Arrow Facebook page!
