The CW's newest superhero is coming in 2018. The network has announced the mid-season return dates for its current shows, plus the premiere date for its latest superhero show, Black Lightning.

Black Lightning, starring Cress Williams, will premiere Tuesday, January 16 at 9/8c, following the return of The Flash. The new show allegedly does not take place in the established Arrowverse, but it's from the same producers. Since The Flash is the CW's most popular show, getting it as a lead-in is definitely a sign of confidence for the new drama.

Why Black Lightning Not Being in the Arrowverse Is a Good Thing>>>

DC's Legends of Tomorrow, meanwhile, will be taking a slightly longer hiatus than the other CW shows. No exact date has been set, but the CW revealed that the show will return in February on a new day and time.

The rest of the CW's current line-up will return throughout January. It was also announced that freshman military drama Valor will end its season at the end of January, meaning it won't be picked up for a full season and will likely be cancelled.
