This has been a great summer for casting for Arrow
season 3, and it seems to be never-ending. The latest news reveals the recasting of a major recurring character, a couple more DC villains and someone from Felicity's past.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
First up, Deadline
reports that Rila Fukushima (Wolverine
) will be playing recurring role of Tatsu Yamashiro, a Japanese martial arts expert whose expertise with the deadly sword explains her code name, Katana. She'll serve as one of Oliver's mentors in this season's flashbacks and a "critical influence" in his journey to becoming The Arrow seen in the present. Fukushima is replacing Devon Aoki due to a scheduling conflict.Casting Bits: Mathew St. Patrick on Sons of Anarchy, Arrow Introduces Manhunter and More>>>
Next up, Entertainment Weekly
reveals that Matt Ward (TRON: Legacy
) will be playing Simon Lacroix, the DC Comics villain Komodo. A deadly mercenary going by the name of Komodo and wreaking havoc in Starling, he's the second episode's villain-of-the-week. However, as executive producer Marc Guggenheim told EW, "Team Arrow's pursuit of him is part and parcel of a season-long storyline. You're going to know what happens to Komodo at the end of the episode, but it will be a little bit tied in better with the season-long mythology than villain-of-the-week episodes have done in the past." EW
has also reported that Amy Gumenick (Supernatural
) will be playing Carrie Cutter, a.k.a. Cupid, "a lethal villainess with a dangerously obsessive crush on The Arrow," in episodes 6 and 7. EP Andrew Kreisberg told EW that he "always loved the idea of Green Arrow having a crazed fan." Arrow Casts Felicity's Mother for Season 3>>>
Finally, there's more news out about Felicity's backstory episode, the fifth of the season, previously known as "Oracle" and now titled, "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak." According to The Hollywood Reporter
, Nolan Funk (Awkward
) will be appearing as Felicity's hacker boyfriend from her MIT days, Cooper Seldon. (Doesn't that name sound familiar?) Arrow
