Jewish-American actor Jeffrey Tambor was born on July 8, 1944 in San Francisco, California. After receiving a master’s degree in acting from Wayne State University, he first worked in repertory theater before moving on to numerous television shoes. Among these were Starsky and Hutch, M*A*S*H, The Love Boat, Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, Who’s the Boss?, and Doogie Howser, M.D. Jeffrey Tambor also worked on various movies, such as Meet Joe Black, Dr. Dolittle, Girl, Interrupted, The Spongebob Squarepants Movie and Hellboy. He’s received a number of Emmy nominations for his work in the television shows Arrested Development and The Larry Sanders Show.
George Bluth, Sr. is portrayed by Jeffrey Tambor in the television comedy series Arrested Development. The founder and former chief executive of the Bluth company, he was arrested after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigated and found him guilty of numerous “creative accounting” actions throughout the years. George was charged (among other things) with petty theft, grand theft, light treason, and defrauding his investors. He’s been known to have business dealings with Saddam Hussein, and is constantly trying to evade the law. He’s also infamous for inventing the Cornballer, a faulty product which gives anyone who uses it severe burns, and for scaring people with poisoned muffins.
