Alia Shawkat is an American actress of Irish-Norwegian and Iraqi heritage, born on April 18, 1989 in Riverside, California. Her career started out early as a model for a Calvin Klein catalog, before she moved on to act in a number of television series such as JAG, State of Grace, Boomtown, and Arrested Development. Alia Shawkat also appeared in the movies Three Kings, The Trial of Old Drum, Rebound, and Deck the Halls. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, playing the piano, horseback riding, and ice-skating.

Maeby Fünke is a teenager portrayed by Alia Shawkat in the dysfunctional family comedy Arrested Development. A rebellious troublemaker with a habit of acting out, she’s the love interest of George Michael, despite the fact that they’re cousins. She’s academically inept and prefers causing havoc instead, though she does manage to earn money by disguising herself and swindling charity money from others. One of her alter egos for this scam is Surely Wolfbeak, a wheelchair-bound girl, and she also fooled others into thinking she was a Hollywood movie executive. Though even when her true age is revealed, she still enjoys some success producing films. Near the end of the series, she accidentally gets married to George Michael.
