Biography

Wendy Davis grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated with a degree in theatre from Howard University. She moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting and got her big break when legendary filmmaker, Steven Spielberg, handpicked her to star in DreamWorks SKG's first hour-long series, High Incident. Davis has also appeared on the drama, EZ Street, produced by Paul Haggis, who is the Academy Award winning writer/director of Crash, the 2006 Oscar winner for Best Picture.

Lieutenant Colonel Joan Burton, played by Wendy Davis on Army Wives , is a dedicated and determined officer who struggled with her troubled youth and rose through the military ranks to become the first African-American female lieutenant colonel at Fort Marshall. Coming from the tough streets of Chicago's South Side, Joan is no stranger to the hard life but when the ghosts of her past are stirred up during her tour in Afghanistan, she succumbs to post-traumatic stress syndrome and must take on the fight of her life to save her marriage to Roland from falling apart.
