Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? is a game show created by Mark Burnett. It is mostly about challenging ordinary adults through a series of questions taken from the textbooks of 5th grade level students.
Hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy,
Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? showcases five children as classmates that help the adults with the challenges. The “help” comes in the form of “peek,” “copy,” or “save.” Peek is where the contestant glances at the child’s answer and chooses whether or not he or she will use it. Copy is where the contestant must use the child’s answer. Save is when the contestant gives a wrong answer and the child guesses the right answer, which ultimately saves the contestant. The contestant is given 10 subject questions, pertaining to history, math or social studies, for 500,000 and a bonus question to win a million dollars. Furthermore, whenever the contestant reaches a correct answer, he or she raises the cumulative amount of winning to the next level.
Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? is also produced by Mark Burnett. It airs Thursdays at 9:00 PM on Fox.
