Canadian actress Mercedes McNab was born on March 14, 1980 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The daughter of English football player Bob McNab, she moved with her family to Los Angeles when she was nine years old, where she decided to pursue a career as an actress. Her acting debut was in 1991, when she appeared on The Addams Family as the Girl Scout selling cookies. The popularity of her character in the film led to her getting a role in its 1993 sequel, Addams Family Values, where she played stuck-up summer camp resident Amanda Buckman. During the time, she also played guest roles in shows such as Harry and the Hendersons and The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.
McNab grew into prominence in 1997, when she joined the cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Her character, vapid Harmony Kendall, was originally penned as a minor character, but throughout the show’s run, she became a guest star and, later, as a regular cast member. Throughout her run on the show, she was bitten by a vampire and eventually acquires superhuman strength. She also starred in its spin-off series Angel, where she tries to deal with her being a vampire, and seek acceptance from the group that she almost puts into harm’s way, especially that of Spike’s (James Marsters), who became her boyfriend in Buffy. She appeared in both shows until their conclusions in 2004.
McNab’s other television appearances include guest roles in Dawson’s Creek, Boston Public, Run of the House, Psych, Supernatural, Crossing Jordan and Reaper. Her other films include the unreleased 1994 version of The Fantastic Four, Savage Land, Miles from Home, Hatchet, The Pink Conspiracy and Dark Reel. She was also voted as one of the 25 Sexiest Celebrities of 2007 by Playboy magazine, with which she had a pictorial for the year before.
