Elisabeth Rohm was born April 28, 1973 in Düsseldorf, Germany but grew up in New York where she graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts in drama and history from Sarah Lawrence College. She pursued her acting career after graduation and landed a recurring role as Dorothy Hayes on the daytime drama, One Life to Live. In 2001, she got the part of Detective Kate Lockley on Angel and soon after, also became part of the long-running police drama, Law & Order, as the ambitious young prosecutor, Serena Southerlyn.

Kate Lockley, played by Elisabeth Rohm on Angel, was an up and coming detective for the Los Angeles Police Department who got entangled with the vampire Angel, both personally and professionally. After their initial encounter, working opposite sides of a case, Kate came to slowly trust Angel before her faith was shaken after learning the truth behind his past and identity.
