Angel, played by David Boreanaz on the series with the same title, was formerly an Irish commoner named Liam, whose only dream was to travel and see the world. He found the path to his goal in the arms of the vampire Darla, who transformed him into the cruel vampire Angelus. After centuries of wreaking havoc and death to countless people, Angelus finally met his match in a family of gypsies who placed a curse on him by restoring his soul, thus condemning him to an eternity of guilt and torment.
