Amiee , Amy decided to go by "Amis" for the competition.
During episode 2 at the first judging panel, Amis was placed in the bottom two because she looked lost in her photo, but was given another chance. On episode four, the models were taken to the Meat Packing District and were asked to pose with and wearing meat. Amis was one of the few who struggled with the task. She was also criticized for not dressing like a model during the panel. It was found out that she was still sleeping twenty minutes before panel and she only had time to put on a headband and a sweater before facing the judges. Amis landed in the bottom two again after Tyra felt that she didn't have the right attitude for the competition, eliminating her instead of
Fatima . The judges believed she lacked focus and questioned her desire to win. Amis was the third model eliminated in cycle 10.
After her elimination, Amis admitted in an interview with BuddyTV that she wasn't surprised that she was sent home because she felt it coming. However, she didn't quite agree with some of the judges' statements, especially when they said being off for an adventure is a bad way to live your life. Amis prided herself in being adventurous and free-spirited.
Joining the contest for fun was a big risk for Amis. "My attitude about things is kind of a double-edged sword. If it hurt me in the competition but helped in the long run of my happiness, then that's OK.”
Despite being eliminated, Amis is still grateful for the opportunity and for the experience. She learned a lot about modeling and about herself as well. Amis also considers learning to deal with adversity as a pleasant gift.
