Yesterday, the first shots of the America's Next Top Model alums
who have agreed to return this fall to fight once more for Tyra's crown emerged, and boy, are they hilarious. The shot of Lisa D'Amato doing the splits in mid-air, covered in only foam and a tiny red bikini, is enough to make me look forward to the September 14 premiere of cycle 17 with overwhelming, childish glee. Oh, the crazy catfights we shall watch! And oh, the crazy old ladies walking the catwalk we shall witness. I. Can't. Wait.
Another reason to be excited for cycle 17? Today, we've learned the identities of the guest judges who will join Tyra, Andre and Nigel in the coveted fourth chair behind the panel table, and looking over the list, I'm happy to see that Tyra's days of trying to make Top Model
more "high fashion" seem to officially be over. Not only has she brought back multiple 30+ year old contestants, but some of the judges' associations with the fashion world aren't just tenuous -- they're non-existent. These are judges who have clearly been handpicked for their colorful personalities and/or correlation to the insane TBA photo shoot concepts. Which ought to make this cycle's panel sessions, in which Tyra will almost definitely try to talk to these seasoned models like they're toddlers, even more entertaining.Take a look at this cycle's guest judges:
- Rap sensation Nicki Minaj
- Comedian, former D-Lister Kathy Griffin
- Pop star, author, fired Celebrity Apprentice, cultural royalty, fashion idol La Toya
- Singer, author, infamous lipsyncer Ashlee Simpson
- Model, actor, sexiness personified, supermodel-maker Tyson Beckford
- Newly single The Hills star Kristin Cavallari
- Rapper (not the Michael Douglas/Sean Penn movie) The Game
- Model Coco Rocha
- CSI creator and producer Anthony Zuiker
- Fashion photographer Nikos Papadopoulos
Unfortunately, this list is missing one essential name, and that name belongs to my boyfriend, Francesco Carrozzini.
Francescoooo! Don't be sad about Tyra's snub. Email me, we can talk it out.
Tyra recently told Good Morning America
(in between prancing around like a space fairy on ecstacy
) that cycle 17 is going to be "crazy," thanks to all the domineering all-stars she plucked out of her reject pile and plopped back into a house together: "They are all these type-A personalities because you are getting the best of the best and they are effervescent and they pop."If you haven't already, go check out this cycle's effervescent group of poppers as they embrace the images that made them all-stars (in Top Model world, anyway):(Images courtesy of WENN)
