Chantal Jones, runner-up on
America's Next Top Model Cycle 9, already knows who will win the upcoming season of
Tyra Banks’ competitive reality series, which is scheduled to premiere on September 3 on The CW. However, she’s not telling anyone.
"I know who wins. I can tell you, but everyone else will just have to wait and see," she told the
New Zealand Herald during a visit to Auckland last weekend.
On
America’s Next Top Model, Jones was arguably best known for her bubbly personality and "all-American" looks. Her photographs were generally praised by the judges, and she appeared in the bottom two only once during the competition. As the show progressed, she earned a spot among the final two models along with fellow contestant
Saleisha Stowers. During the final runway challenge in Beijing, China, she struggled when a performer on stilts tripped on her dress, which caused her to temporarily lose her composure. At the final deliberation, the judges praised Jones' high-fashion appeal, but were also impressed by Stowers' presence on the final runway and her fluidity. Jones was the eventual runner-up to Stowers.
"We had to go out to photo shoots all the time and we were always busy. The show is such a wild ride, all in two months - which a lot of people don't realize when they watch it. We never really got to see Tyra [Banks - the host] a lot, but she was really professional," Jones recalled of her stint on
America’s Next Top Model.
At present, Jones is in New Zealand for six weeks to model for 62 Models and Talent in Auckland. However, she intends to get a "full experience" of New Zealand.
"I was told there were a lot of sheep here but I haven't seen one yet, so I have to see one. I'm really into extreme sports so that's what I'm going to do. I want to jump off the Sky Tower and do the bungy-jump thing off a bridge - that'll be awesome,” she said.
