Last week, we were treated to some of the worst makeovers in
ANTM history, which is saying something. This week, we have to deal with the ramifications of a bunch of new blondes and bad weaves. Though hopefully at least one of those bad weaves will be remedied this week, since Tyra promised to fix Teyona's extra-long, extra-ghetto jheri curl.
If last week was all about makeovers, this week is all about runway. The remaining modelettes are treated to the traditional Miss J runway teach, which this Cycle will have a charm school theme. While Miss J's runway school will surely suit some of the models, we've seen that Celia can serve a serious strut just in judges panel and Aminat blew the judges away with her runway walk during this cycle's premiere. However, just like the makeovers, what we're most interested in is the runway disasters, which there promises to be plenty of. Based on the initial runway walks we saw in the premiere, it looks like Miss J is going to have his hands full with all kinds of awkward, especially with Allison. Of course, we're all wondering if during this week's challenge, Sandra can actually manage to walk the full length of the catwalk.
Based on last week's somewhat shocking elimination of Jessica, who was one of this cycle's most obvious beauties, we predict that Tyra will continue her elimination of the "just pretty" girls. Tahlia has shown that while she may be a role model, she is not a Top Model; but I still don't think Tyra will send Tahlia home this week. Because Tahlia is not "just pretty," she also has a story, which is more than some of this cycle's solely pretty contestants have. Based on that, I think it's homecoming queen Nijah who's
Top Model dreams will end tonight. While she was doubtlessly the prettiest girl at her high school, that does not a model make. When will these girls realize that pretty doesn't necessarily translate to model material? And when will
ANTM stop cruelly casting them, when they never have a chance at winning or working?
As for this week's strong performances, I think the runway challenge will really play to Aminat's strength. If she can figure out away to make her beauty translate on to film, which she hasn't been able to do yet, Aminat will be tough to beat. On the other hand Celia has produced back-to-back strong photos, so the runway challenge is her chance to prove she is the total package. Who will triumph and who will tank? Tune in to the CW at 8pm tonight to see.
