We're waiting anxiously for the premiere of Cycle 12 of
America's Next Top Model, we have been for what seems like months. The CW must be able to smell our intense anticipation for the premiere and they must be enjoying it, because the CW pushed back the premiere date another torturous week. To make the waiting game more bearable, the CW has begun releasing introductory videos of the 13 finalists who will move into the
Top Model house for Cycle 12.
So far the CW unleashed videos of Allison, Jessica, Kortnie, Tahlia, Aminat and London from their
Top Model try-outs. We have to admit, the CW did a great job, because the minute-or-less videos have us even more intrigued and eager for the season to begin. But don't take my word for it, see for yourself:
Jessica: If this video is any hint, Jessica may be the bitchy diva of the season. She reminds us of Cycle 7's Jaeda who was "just a pretty girl" and lost all confidence when she was asked to be more than just pretty. Of course that means we're hoping Tyra shaves Jessica's head or gives her a crew cut, just to challenge her idea of beauty and self.
Aminat: We were so right about Aminat, our early favorite to take it all. Not only is this girl gorgeous, with a funky sense of style, she is 6-foot-1 barefoot. In the standard four inch model heels that puts Aminat at 6'5 and with her afro, this Nigerian beauty is topping out at almost 6-foot-9! Now that is model tall!
London: London is a hipster street preacher for Jesus. For real. London describes herself as "a model with a purpose," bringing God in to the fashion world. We recommend she just focus on getting herself into the fashion world first, then God can tag along for the ride.
Tahlia: Every Cycle of
ANTM has a sob story, and this season it's Tahlia. While previous seasons dealt with Asperger's Syndrome, female genital mutilation, and transgender identity issues, Cycle 12 will have lots about living with scars and life as a burn victim. As an infant Tahlia was horribly burned and had to have 14 surgeries to repair the burn damage. In her try out video she proudly wears her scars and looks beautiful doing so, which Tyra and the judges love.
Kortnie: We weren't impressed with her promo shot, but after this video Kortnie is our absolute favorite model of Cycle 12. Kortine is this Cycle's requisite "plus sized girl" who won me over with this line: "Your body is a temple, and my temple wants cheesecake!" Now that's my kind of model!
Allison: Allison is doubtlessly the strangest girl who has ever stepped foot in the
Top Model house. While previous ANTM contestants may have been quirky, Allison admits she has a fetish for blood and she thinks nose bleeds are beautiful. When
we said that Allison looked like a
Mark Ryden painting, we didn't realize we'd be paying Allison the greatest compliment possible.
