Yesterday, we took a totally superficial look at one half of the newest batch of
America’s Next Top Model 11 hopefuls. Based on nothing more than the first shot from their America’s Next Top Model portfolio, I tried to make some guesses as to who might really deliver in the weekly photo shoots and who could fall flat.
Today, it’s Part 2. While yesterday’s batch was like a visit to the mall, today’s it’s Potential Diva Watch! There are a few modelettes who – again, just based on a photo – might be sources of sass this cycle of
America’s Next Top Model.
Lauren Brie - As a fan of dairy products, I’m inclined to like any modelette whose name includes a superfluous reference to cheese. But can she model? She, like many of the girls evaluated yesterday, to borrow a suffix from
Project Runway’s Blayne Walsh, looks a little mall-licious. But she does appear to have a bit of a smoldering intensity that could potentially propel her beyond the food court.
Marjorie – Um, okay, Agyness Deyn, we get it.
McKey – Everything about this shot says she could be our Miss Sassy Pants (a la last cycle’s
Allison Kuehn) this cycle. But I’m going to look beyond that to say that she appears to have a really great and interesting face with amazing skin. Most of all, though, there is something about her that makes me want to see more of what she can do, which is the mark of a potentially good model.
Nikeysha – She looks a little brokedown in this photo, but something about her reminds me of
Furonda Brasfield from Cycle 6. Furonda also came in with a bit of an unusual look (didn’t Miss J repeatedly call her a praying mantis or grasshopper or something?) but she really transformed in front of the camera and from a personality perspective, is actually one of my favorites of recent cycles. Of course, similar looks are no guarantee of a similar personality, but maybe I’m picking up on a vibe. No matter what: please change that hair.
Samantha – Samantha, Samantha, Samantha, have you NEVER watched
America’s Next Top Model?! Okay, BuddyTV readers and diehard
ANTM fans, quick quiz: if you’re a larger-chested girl, what is your primary posing position? I bet most of you at home just stuck your hands on your hips, turned your shoulders in and rolled your torso back. She’s a cute girl, but with the boobage and her legs (which are gorgeous in normal human terms, but a little short in model terms), she’s going to have to work extra hard to convince the judges she can do high fashion. This pose is not a good start.
Sharaun – Also looks to be a little Miss Sassy Pants. But love her. Her face is awesome and I hope they don’t change her hair a bit. I can’t wait to see her in shoots. It’s overused but seriously: fierce.
Sheena – Despite my attempts to be entirely shallow in these assessments, I accidentally caught some of Sheena’s video in which she talks about how she might be Asian-American, but she has plenty of attitude. Yawn. If you’re going to be Miss Sassy Pants, just BE it. Don’t tell me about it. But anyway, back to her modeling potential. This photograph makes her head look a little out-of-proportion to her body, but that might not be an issue from all angles. She’s got a great body and the fact that her look is unique could work in her favor. I’m always a fan of what an interesting-looking girl can bring to a shot. In this one, though, I’m not seeing a whole heck of a lot of intensity, so again, if she’s going to talk about the ‘tude, she needs to bring some of that energy to her photographs as well.
