It's never over for Tyra Banks. Even though her talk show is holding on to its last legs, the influential model and host has something better. She's apparently a recipient for the 41st NAACP Image Awards, along with America's Next Top Model and one of its contestants.
First off, The Tyra Banks Show managed to find a place in the category for "Outstanding Talk Show." It's going against four other contenders, namely Lopez Tonight, The Mo'Nique Show, ABC's The View and The Wanda Sykes Show.
Meanwhile,
America's Next Top Model has a spot in the "Outstanding Reality Series" category. While several of you may think it deserves the title, it seems to have some tough competition in this arena. The series has to put up with
American Idol 8 and
Dancing with the Stars, in addition to
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Bravo's
Real Housewives of Atlanta. But things are looking good for the CW reality series, especially since it has produced another possible winner for the NAACP Awards. Actress and former
America's Next Top Model contestant Eva Marcille is also in the running.
After landing a role on
The Young and the Restless, Marcille rose to even more fame and therefore earned a slot in the NAACP competition. Her soap opera gig booked a nomination for the category "Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series" for this year.
Joining her are
The Young and the Restless co-stars Tatyana Ali and Tonya Lee Williams. Other competitors include
One Life to Live's Daphne Duplaix and
All My Children's Debbi Morgan.
For the full list of nominees, check out the NAACP website
here.
We'd already like to congratulate Tyra and Eva Marcille for making the cut, but there's no doubt we'd much rather see them win. If you want to see them awarded for their efforts, catch the NAACP Image Awards on February 26, 2010 at 8pm on FOX.
