Evie Shapiro appears as one of the contestants on the TV Guide network’s new reality television series, America’s Next Producer. Born on July 4, 1970, she used to live in Ohio and Maryland, before presently residing in Venice, California. Evie is a graduate of the University of Maryland, and prefers documentary-style television, saying that she hates studio producing. As a producer, she says that she loves one-on-one interactions and interviews with people, discovering and learning their individual stories and turning them into small movies. She also enjoys editing, saying that it’s the part of the whole process she likes the most.
Evie also claims that producers are abused, saying that they have a diminishing pay scale coupled with overwhelming work responsibilities, and that producers often get blamed when a show fails. Yet she still encourages aspiring producers to work hard, saying that in order to succeed they should take the initiative with projects on the side, in order to hone their talents and skills. She says that the best producers should do everything they can on a show, and be certain that they’re doing it better than their peers. Her favorite television shows are
30 Rock ,
Survivor ,
The Sopranos , and
Project Runway .
