Michael Grimm, the surprise winner of this season's America's Got Talent, added to his public successes when he asked his girlfriend to marry him The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Grimm told DeGeneres that he had sung his winning number with girlfriend Lucy Zolcerova as his inspiration. Since Lucy was in the audience at the time, Ellen made sure to get her right up on the stage.

The trio began by engaging in some light and heartwarming banter. Grimm referred to his longtime girlfriend as his "rock" and pointed out that "it takes a strong woman to deal with this business."

The interview took a turn for the even more heartwarming when Grimm declared, "Once you find that good woman, you hang on to her." To prove his point, the singer dropped to one knee. Although Zolcerova's initial response ("Oh no you're not!") did not bode well for Grimm's chances, his simple proposal quickly met with a yes.

With that response, Michael Grimm proves that he is most definitely on a positive roll. His America's Got Talent win over fan-favorite Jackie Evancho came as a surprise to the many who thought the operatically-blessed poppet would take the top prize. In the end, however, Grimm's rendition of "When a Man Loves a Woman" gave him a more mature edge.

Just in case a proposal does not provide enough heartwarming good cheer for you, Michael Grimm repeated his desire to build a new house for his Katrina-impacted grandparents, this time showing photos of their ruined home. He still hasn't figured out a good use for the rest of the money, but it's a safe bet that an impressive honeymoon is in the cards.

The episode including Grimm's proposal was taped on Thursday for airing today.
