David Hasselhoff, who serves as one of the judges on NBC's
America's Got Talent, was taken to the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center on Saturday. Contrary to rumors that the former
Baywatch star checked into rehab, his publicist Judy Katz reveals that the actor's hospital visit had something to do with some minor patching up.
According to reports, Hasselhoff had something removed from above his eye last week, although his rep wouldn't specify what was removed. When the incision began bleeding, his assistant became concerned and took him to UCLA.
“He's fine, he had something removed, he's coming out tonight,” Katz said, declining to elaborate on what really happened to the
America's Got Talent judge.
Speculations about Hasselhoff's possible return to rehab circulated shortly after he was taken to the hospital seeing that the actor had previously been in and out of rehab for his drinking problems on several occasions. His most recent hospital treatment for alcoholism was last October.
Meanwhile, this isn't Hasselhoff's most recent media controversy. Just last week, he has agreed to pay $25,000 (£12,527) a month to support his ex-wife Pamela Bach and children in his divorce settlement. Los Angeles court documents released show the 55-year-old must hand over $21,000 (£10,523) to Bach, while his daughters, 17-year-old Taylor, and 15-year-old Hayley will receive another $4,000 (£2,000) from their father.
The couple, who divorced in 2006 after more than 16 years of marriage, have spent months negotiating custody and financial arrangements. Now, they have joint custody of the children and have also agreed to joint ownership of their home. Moreover, they will also divide the family's cars, bank accounts and Hasselhoff's pensions from acting and directing guilds.
Meanwhile, fans can catch Hasselhoff as he reprises his judging duties on
America's Got Talent, which returns for a third season on June 24 on NBC.
