America's Best Dance Crew

Exclusive Interview with Fanny Pak from 'America's Best Dance Crew'

The second season of America's Best Dance Crew has been hard to watch, not because the dancing is bad, but because it's so good that I hate to see some of the most amazing crews eliminated. That happened again last week when Fanny Pak, the endlessly creative ‘80s-inspired team, was eliminated. Fanny Pak's imaginative storytelling combined great choreography with hilarious set-ups, but that came to an end when an epic battle with Super Cr3w didn't go their way.

BuddyTV spoke to Fanny Pak about their time on the show. The crew was laughing and talking over each other quite a bit, once again reminding me that the crews on this show are just about having fun and doing what they love. Fanny Pak also spoke about their favorite routines, their inclusion of the judges in some dances, and plans for the big West Coast group dance at the finale. Continue reading for highlights of the interview or to listen to Fanny Pak.

-In keeping with the tradition of all America's Best Dance Crew eliminated groups, Fanny Pak had nothing bad to say about their experience, nor were they especially affected by their elimination. Instead, Fanny Pak was just happy to be a part of the show and share their creativity with viewers.

-Going up against Super Cr3w was especially tough since Fanny Pak bonded with them the most. When asked who they wanted to win, Fanny Pak was gracious enough to point out that both remaining crews are great at what they do and either deserves to win, though obviously being from the West Coast gives them a slight preference for Super Cr3w.

-While the finale performance with Super Cr3w and Supreme Soul is still undecided, they are excited to work with them, as are the other crews. They recently received a text message from Supreme Soul about how excited that crew is to dance together. Fanny Pak also described some of the dance techniques like b-boying and windmills that their fellow West Coast crews taught them during their time on the show.

-From a storytelling perspective, the ‘80s prom theme was their favorite performance. They also loved their final ‘80s week challenge, saying it was the only week when the crew was 100 percent united the entire week. Though the sad irony of Fanny Pak being eliminated during ‘80s week was not lost on them, they took the optimistic route: at least Fanny Pak made it to ‘80s week.

-Though some might view the inclusion of the judges in their routines as a way to suck up, Fanny Pak says it was just about having fun and enjoying themselves. The crew loves to laugh, and using the judges and host was simply a good joke they couldn't pass up.
