'America's Best Dance Crew' Kicks Off Tour

JabbaWockeeZAfter another successful season, MTV's America's Best Dance Crew hits the road for an unprecedented five-week, 25-city tour that takes the top crews from the show's two seasons from Albany, New York to Oakland, California and all the major cities in between.  First season winners JabbaW.ckeeZ, BreakSk8, second season winners SuperCr3w, ASIID, and Fanny Pak all made it to the final list. Each night, they will battle each other just like how a normal America's Best Dance Crew episode goes.

The America's Best Dance Crew 2008 North American tour took off yesterday at the W.terfront Theater at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.  The five touring crews will then proceed to cities in Georgia, South Carolina, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Michigan, W.sconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, California, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas.  To view the complete list, you can go here.

While JabbaWockeeZ and BreakSk8t were early additions to the list, the crews from season 2 had to wait for feedback from MTV to see who would make it to the coveted list.

"I can't even process this. ... I'm nobody and it's such a weird feeling. It was really intimidating on the show," said Matt Cady, 22, from '80s-inspired Fanny Pak, season 2 third-placers and winner of the dance-off during the VMA's.  "We usually dance behind the artists, and now we are the artists.”

“Every two seconds we'd see someone famous. It was an amazing feeling when the Pussycat Dolls came up to us," Cady added.  "You really can't give up on your dream. You have to do what you love."

As for a member of the now world-famous JabbaWockeeZ, meanwhile, it still seems unreal every now and then.

"One day I'm sitting here, dancing in my living room or taking classes in a studio.  The next day, we're rehearsing for award shows or touring ... seeing different countries," said Chris "Cristyles" Gatdula, who joined the troupe in 2003.  "It's dope to be able to do what we love to do."

America's Best Dance Crew, which aired Thursdays for two seasons, pits dance crews from all over the country. It was recently renewed for a third season.
