As
America's Best Dance Crew bids farewell to its first casualty this season, judge
JC Chasez, upon sizing up the talent in this bunch and comparing it with their maiden season, saids there is more promise this year. Zap2it.com reports that Chasez made this observation moments before
America's Best Dance Crew started filming its first episode after the live casting special.
"There's more talent on this first show than there was on the last first show, because the first season gave us exposure. People lined up to get into this one. So I think these ten are maybe stronger than the eight we started with last time around."
Of course, this is not to take anything away from last season's champion, the
Jabbawockeez. The San Diego-based all-male dance crew is doing well post-
America's Best Dance Crew. The remaining judge,
Shane Sparks, was perhaps the most direct to the point, calling one of the crews he liked last week “whack.” The other judge,
Lil' Mama, was harsher with her words.
“Go hard or go home,” she stressed. During the live casting special, some all-female teams received flak from both Lil' Mama and Shane Sparks for looking like a cheerleading squad.
A relatively new show,
America's Best Dance Crew is just on its second season. It takes the most promising dance crews across the country to determine, well, America's best dance crew. Those selected in the initial auditions are divided to East and West coasts. This mechanic raised some early controversy this season, as there were eliminated West Coast crews that were visibly better than the East Coast teams who got in.
On the next episode, the nine remaining crews battle it out to gain approval of the judges. One more team, of course, will have to go home.
