The show features the idea of the inventor and helps the inventor turn his product into a mass-produced item that will be an infamous household item. Hundreds of inventors are narrowed down to twelve semi-finalists on the program
American Inventor. The 12 contestants will then be broken down into four groups of three and will receive $50,000 to develop their inventions. Each episode will feature a different group of three, featuring their progress and improvement of their craft until each contends to become one of the four finalists of the competition. Finally, the four finalists showcase their product with a 30-second commercial advertisement while a panel of expert judges and home viewers evaluate their inventions. Subsequently, the hailed American Inventor will then receive a $1,000,000 worth of business support, prize money, entrepreneurial counsel and other physical resources.
American Inventor is produced by Syco Television LLC and FremantleMedia North America, Inc in association with Peter Jones TV, alongside Simon Cowell, Liz Bronstein, Siobhan Greene, Nigel Hall and Cecile Frot-Coutaz. It airs every Thursday at 9/8C on ABC.
