Wednesday Ratings for May 25: 'Idol' In It to Win It

Last night, FOX's American Idol obliterated the competition with its season finale results show, beating out last week's results show and last year's finale by wide margins.

On Idol last night, country singer Scotty McCreery took the title and became this season's American Idol. The finale had 29.3 million viewers, an absolutely staggering number. That's a 21% increase over last year's finale, and the first time in five years Idol has topped a previous season's finale.

It was finale night for the ABC comedies. The Middle finale had 7.43 million viewers, down 12% versus last season's finale. Modern Family's finale had 10.21 million viewers, down 5% from last year. And finally, Happy Endings had 4.06 million.

On CBS, the Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior series finale had 7.69 million viewers.
