Asiah Epperson, from Joplin, Missouri, is a 19 year old woman who tried out during the Atlanta auditions on season 7 of American Idol. Her performance of “How Do I Live” was a hit with the judges. She extended this throughout the Hollywood week and catapulted herself into the Top 24. Asiah Epperson comes from a singing pedigree and has been singing all of her life.
Despite her unique singing chops, Asiah's stay in American Idol was brief. In fact, she was so close to being in the top 12, but was eliminated early on.
"I definitely think I deserve to be in the Top 12, but at the same time, when they told me that I was first, I actually called my mom at that moment, and was like I think this is going to be my last time performing on this stage," the 19-year-old aspiring singer said. However, her dream of moving forward in the competition was put down as she was soon eliminated.
"You know, I'm a strong believer in everything happens for a reason, and I believe that God has a bigger and better plan for me, and Dad's just getting me through all of this, keeping that in my head," Asiah said. Now, it's a new beginning for Asiah as she journeys on following the recent death of her father and the end of her elimination from the competition on March 6.
"For me, I really believe the sky's the limit for me. I'm going to take every opportunity that I can," she said. "I've been in drama and things like that through middle school and high school, so maybe some acting, some commercials, maybe a little bit of modeling here and there, but definitely music, music, and music. Music is going to definitely stay in that. It's my heart and soul."
