Alexandrea Lushington comes from the American Idol auditions in her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. Only 16 years old, she has been singing since the age of 2 and has been receiving professional training since the age of 7. Alexandrea Lushington names The Beatles as one of her biggest influences. Her audition performance of “My Funny Valentine” was well-received by the judges and, when Alexandrea got her golden ticket, her entire family was there to congratulate her, including her 93-year old grandma!
However, Alexandrea's stay in American Idol was cut short when she was eliminated on February 28. Despite that, she was still able to make new friends while on the show. In fact, she says that she bonded well with fan favorite David Archuleta, who she met four years ago in Star Search.
"To see each other again during American Idol was cool, kind of a coincidence as well and we've become really close friends throughout this whole experience," Alexandrea said about David.
Moreover, it was David who was one of the more emotional contenders when Alexandrea was sent home. She recalls that night and said, "It was kind of weird because I never have seen him that emotional before. It's always sad to see somebody that you're close to leave."
As for her stint on American Idol, Alexandrea is sure that this would be one memorable phase in her life, saying, "I enjoyed every minute of it. I don't regret anything...I know that I'm going to benefit from this in the future."
