Just early this week we were already floating the possibility of seeing Paula Abdul on our televisions again... well, it's not happening. At least not yet.
ABC's plans to have the former American Idol
judge join their revival of Star Search
have reached a dead end after not meeting halfway when it comes to pay. Apparently the network wants to pay Abdul a significantly lower salary for the reboot--there are no actual figures, but it is suggested that the figures are much lower than the $5 million she demanded Fox pay her during stalled Idol
negotiations last year.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
Well, the network probably didn't want to plunk that much money on a new show in the crowded talent show field. Probably they wouldn't push through with plans anymore: The Hollywood Reporter suggests
that ABC's interest in Star Search
lay mostly on Abdul's participation.
So, where next for Paula? I can only shrug and say "dunno". With Nigel Lythgoe officially revoking his invitation for Paula to join So You Think You Can Dance
, maybe seeing her on TV will take a lot longer. It could be a good thing or a bad thing.(Image courtesy of PR Photos)
