The frequent disputes and torments on and off camera has led
American Idol judge
Paula Abdul to express her sentiments regarding her relationship with
American Idol’s notorious judge,
Simon Cowell.
"Simon will do things that people have no idea about…When the camera isn't on me, (he) isn't watching the performance, he's poking and prodding me," said Abdul. "He's caused me a lot of problems. ... In the middle of me trying to figure out how I'm going to say something that gives someone dignity walking off that stage, I've got the antagonistic brother goofing on me, trying to throw me off."
Cowell, a 47-year old British artist and repertoire, is an executive for Sony BMG in the United Kingdom. He is popularly known for his bold and brutally frank remarks on the hit reality talent show
American Idol. Aside from this, he was also a judge on shows like
Pop Idol, Britain’s Got Talent and
X Factor. Previously, he released several novelty recordings such as
Teletubbies, World Wrestling Federation, Zig and Zag, and the
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
But despite numerous heated discussions and conflicts, the two
American Idol judges remain to be buddies in real life. In an interview with TV Guide magazine Abdul said, "Simon and I actually get along great...We have cultivated a fun relationship…He's actually become a really good friend."
And when asked about whether his relationship with Cowell could go beyond friendship, Abdul just laughed at the idea. "Oh please…He makes this stuff up," Abdul said. "He said, 'Paula, people want us to hook up so bad.' I said, 'That's disgusting.' He goes, ‘Paula, I know you want me,' and I go, 'like a cold sore.' We have fun playing up the chemistry, but there's also times when I would cross the other side of the street so I wouldn't have to look at him."
