Several media outlets, including
MSNBC, are reporting that American Idol producers are courting Paul Mcartney (The Beatles) and Mariah Carey to appear as a follow up to their ground break acquisition of Prince last season. The Prince appearance was seen as ground breaking for the reality show / talent contest and sort of lowered any inhibitions amongst producers barring who they would and would not approach for season six.
This news really rhymes well with everything that has been said about season six so far. Out of the gate, the show has doubled the length of its premiere and substantially increased the stable of potential 'idols'. The producers also are threatening to pull an unexpected mid-season twist out of their hats that so far everyone in the entertainment press can only guess at. American Idol returns to fox January 16th.
