Ace Young was living proof that having an abundance of one half of the equation, looks, can carry a lacking in the other, talent.  Somebody in charge of the vocal coaching had a sadistic inside joke going on with constantly prompting Ace to utilize his ear splitting falsetto.  

Despite having the moves and presence of a rock star, Ace’s singing was a weakly connected mass of amateur tricks and hamming that was an assault on the senses.  His ruggedly handsome good looks no doubt kept the teenage girl contingent dialing him in until the contest boiled down to a thinking persons competition, at which point he was toast.
