American Idol 8: Top 7 Perform, Live Thoughts 2.0 (Page 4/4)
Matt Giraud - "Stayin' Alive" by The Bee Gees

All right, Matty, I'm rooting for you, buddy.  Kick some ass, will ya? Worrisome song choice, but Matt puts a real funky groove to his arrangment, and brings the pain from the second the performance begins. However, he's wearing that dumb ass hat again.  Vocally, Matt is much better tonight that he was last week, which will hopefully get the judges on his good side.  Good last note, building to a nice falsetto as well.
Randy didn't love the song choice or the arrangement, but says that Matt can really sing.  Kara liekd that Matt brought it back to disco, thought it was a solid performance.  "You pick songs like I bowl," says Paula.  Really drunk? She loved it, though.  Simon says he didn't like the performance because he thought it was desperate and the vocals weren't that great.

Anoop Desai - "Dim All The Lights" by Donna Summer

Noop Dog in the pimp spot.  He has some pitch problems at the outset, but recovers.  Anoop has grown some wispy facial hair.  He's like a 14-year old who discovered that hair does actually grow on his face. Not sure about this song.  Kind of sloppy at times, but that might be the arrangements fault.  Vocally, he's mostly solid.  He does have some pitch issues.  Also, kind of boring.

Randy thought, vocally, it was very good.  Kara loved the song choice. Paula's most prescient critique is that "Real men know how to wear pink."  Simon completely disagrees with the others, and calls the performance "mediocre at best."  He says it was his worst performance by a mile.  Well, then.  I actually am going to side with Simon.  I didn't think it was bad, just not great.

That's it for tonight's show.  Stay tuned for our Episode in Review coming in a little, and our Performance Rankings later in the night.
