Adam Lambert - "Mad World" by Tears for FearsAdam's
father is on camera and he says that he was a screamer as a small
child. Figures. His dad thinks that's where he got that big voice of
his. Oh, and I love this freaking song. It seems like the same
arrangement, and Adam walks down the stairs, flooded in green light and
smoke, wearing a cape, looking like a flamboyant superhero or
something. Adam performs the hell out of the camera, wearing a face of
vague melancholy, connecting like few other have ever in the
competition. Haters, you can't hate this song, right? The last note
was sketchy their for about a millisecond, and that's really the only
critique I can give.
The crowd goes wild. Randy loved it all,
giving it an "A-plus. A for Adam." Thanks, Batman from the 1960's.
Kara DioGuardi's Hyperbolic Dream Machine is already fired up and
delivering. Paula, looking like she had intimate relations with King
Midas, compliments everything. Simon calls it "overly theatrical."
OK. The Simon Cowell reverse psychology game begins already. We'll see if it continues with full-bore support of Kris Allen. I don't know how any reasonable person can sit there and critique a performance like this. Even if it wasn't as good as the first time he did it, it was still other-worldly.
