FOX is trying to keep many details about Wednesday night's
American Idol finale under wraps, but inevitably someone will mention something, and someone else will mention another, until we have a pretty big picture. Just looking at all these rumors makes my head spin!
The confirmedChristina Aguilera,
Enrique Iglesias, and
Idol winners
Carrie Underwood and
Kris Allen (perhaps with Train vocalist
Pat Monahan) will be performing their latest singles.
Paula Abdul is also reportedly returning to
Idol as part of a send-off tribute to departing judge Simon Cowell.
The not-so-confirmedWe previously reported that many
Idol graduates will appear on that send-off, but their identities are still unknown.
The Los Angeles Times reports that season 4's
Constantine Maroulis and
Bo Bice are in town, possibly to appear on the show.
Elliott Yamin hinted on his Twitter account that he'll have a duet with season 5 winner
Taylor Hicks:
Michael Johns also confirmed on Twitter that he'll be appearing on the finale, but he isn't hinting much. I'm guessing it's also the Simon Cowell send-off:
Finally,
Hollywood Life reports that
Joe Cocker will be performing with both Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox.
The still-rumored
MJsBigBlog reports that
Janet Jackson will be performing on the finale. There were also reports that
Chicago and
the BeeGees are showing up, but
a report from the Daily Mail suggests the latter won't be able to show up because Robin Gibb missed a flight to the United States after a run-in with airport security.
There are also reports that
Hall and Oates are making an appearance, with
Cleveland radio station WQAL suggesting that there might be a tribute to the pop duo:
They also report that season 6's final two,
Jordin Sparks and
Blake Lewis, will be performing together:
The
Los Angeles Times reports that the possibility of a Crystal Bowersox/
Melissa Etheridge duet is back on again. Melissa just appeared on
Dancing with the Stars and is thus contractually-bound against appearing on
Idol.
