It’s been only a month since she was hailed winner of American Idol
season six and yet Jordin Sparks' calendar is already crammed with a debut album and a concert tour.
Sparks, a 17-year old native of Phoenix, Arizona, is a singer who has been exposed to numerous singing competitions prior to her participation on American Idol
. She has received awards and honors as Coca Rising Star 2002, Country Thunder Young Guns Second Place Winner, Plus-size model search winner, and in the Glendale Youth Fest Teen Talent Show.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
This summer, Sparks will be juggling all her endeavors. Staring on July 6 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, FL, she will grace the American Idol
2007 concert tour, which will span 56 dates and 35 states over the course of two and a half months.
"Nothing can prepare you for what happens afterwards," Sparks told Entertainment Tonight about her life after her American Idol win. "I still can't believe it is actually happening. It has been great. I asked for it, and I am so glad I got it."
In between rehearsals for the tour, Sparks is preoccupied with reviewing potential songs for her upcoming debut album.
"I actually got a couple of songs the other day," she said. "I love them. I am so excited about them. I haven't gone and recorded anything yet. We are still in the starting stages of it."
It’s going to be a very demanding summer for Sparks who hopes that she’ll have the stamina to endure her hectic schedule. Luckily, she’ll have her mom and some relatives on board.
"My mom is going to come for the first leg of the tour," she explained to Entertainment Tonight, "then my nana and then my uncle is going to come because he loves music. I was, 'You need to come with me.' He is 23. It is going to be really cool…I am just praying that my voice stays up."
