John vs. Oscar: American Idol Top 5 Elimination Predictions

There are those who are believers and there are those who are not.
David Archuleta has become as divisive a figure on
American Idol as
Sanjaya Malakar was last year. After last night (
especially after last night),
American Idol viewers either love him or hate him. There is no in-between. Being a well-known Archuleta hater, I can't fathom how anyone could have watched last night's
American Idol and thought he was anywhere near good. But, I can't see into the minds of his fans – music is annoyingly subjective that way. In our newest podcast, John Kubicek and I spent a lot of time eviscerating Archuleta's performance last night and have some differing thoughts on who exactly will be eliminated on tonight's
American Idol results show.
John Kubicek's Bottom Two:
4th Place: Jason Castro
Going Home: Brooke White
Oscar Dahl's Bottom Two:
4th Place: Brooke White
Going Home: Jason Castro
Like we did last week, John and I went through every single performance from last night's show and discussed their respective merits. We basically agreed on most of the issues except for, of course, who we believe will ultimately be eliminated. David Archuleta and his downfall is the main topic of conversation and we examine the possibility of him maybe going home tonight. We discussed also the dominance of David Cook and how much he's distancing himself from the field.
John brought up a very interesting theory involving Simon Cowell's motivations. John believes that Simon knowingly tries to manipulate the voters by saying that certain people are in trouble in order to inflate their amount of sympathy votes. The example given last night is for Syesha Mercado, when Simon inexplicably exclaimed that she might be in trouble. I hope John is right, and that seemingly innocuous comment galvanizes Syesha's voters.
As always, I advise listening to the actual mp3 for the full effect.
