Former American Idol finalist Jessica Sierra arrested
Jessica Sierra, formerly an American Idol top-ten finalist, has been arrested in Tampa, Florida. Sierra was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of cocaine, as well as introduction of contraband into a detention facility.

Sierra, a season four American Idol contestant who finished in tenth place, was arrested on Sunday at the Hyde Park Cafe in Tampa after allegedly throwing a cocktail glass at the head of another customer, Wisam Hadad, 28, leaving him with a cut over his eye. Police aren’t sure yet whether she knew the man. When the police arrived, she was “belligerent and uncooperative,” and apparently kicked the squad car’s windows so hard they threatened to put her in leg restraints.

The police reportedly found a bag of cocaine in her purse, although she denies it was hers.

Sierra was released the same day on $11,500 bail. Neither her family nor her manager has issued a public comment so far.

This isn’t the first time Sierra’s been in the news since her stint on American Idol; last year she had to get a restraining order against a stalker, Daniel Young, who impersonated a talent scout, left her dozens of messages saying he loved her, and then showed up at her grandmother’s house in Tampa. The 60-year-old Young, who had a prior record of assault and battery in California, was eventually arrested, though the case has apparently been delayed by “mental issues.” Sierra subsequently joined the Stalking Resource Center to help “speak out” against stalking.

Sierra, 21, last year went to Nashville to record some songs, but this apparently did not result in an album being released. Last summer she went to Iraq to perform in several concerts for American troops for July 4. She has most recently been reported to be working at Hooter’s.
