David Cook to Sing National Anthem at the NBA Finals
Continuing a yearly American Idol tradition, David Cook will perform the national anthem at Game 3 of the NBA Finals.  For the last couple years, the American Idol winner has sang the national anthem at one of the June NBA Finals games.  Game 3 between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers will take place on Tuesday, June 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.  You can tune in at 9pm ET/6pm PT for the game.  Chances are you will be anyway; the Lakers/Celtics finals is expected to be the highest rated NBA Finals in years.

This is just one more reason to be happy that David Cook won American Idol over David Archuleta.  Archuleta's national anthem would most likely be super-cheesy, filled with unnecessary runs and loud groans from the crowd.  David Cook will, hopefully, be a little more creative in his rendition.  We should expect no less, given what we saw from Cook throughout the American Idol season.  It'll be hard to top the national anthem from Game 1 of the series, however, which was performed by legend James Taylor.

As for the series itself (this is my only opportunity to discuss sports on BuddyTV), I'm rooting for the Celtics.  I've always been a staunch Kobe-hater, although he's grown on me (and, presumably, his teammates) over the past year.  I'm a Seattle guy, so I have a soft spot for Ray Allen and it's hard to dislike Paul Pierce or Kevin Garnett.  If freaking Doc Rivers decides to play the corpse of Sam Cassell anymore, however, I won't be able to stop yelling at the screen.  Eddie House is far and away the better option, and he doesn't fire up ill-advised fade away jumpers after dribbling around aimlessly for the better part of the shot clock.
