American Idol season 4 winner Carrie Underwood is bound to perform live on the results show of the sixth season of American Idol on Thursday, March 8 at 8PM on Fox. Underwood’s appearance on the popular reality talent show will mark the elimination of 4 more contestants, trimming the competition down to 12 from its current 16 finalists.

Underwood, a 23-year old Oklahoma native, was born on March 10, 1983. She started her interest in singing by performing in talent shows and in church during her younger days. She studied at Checotah High School where she became salutatorian and attended Northeastern State University where she acquired a degree in mass communication, specializing in journalism, and graduated magna cum laude. In addition, she previously participated a number of beauty pageants in her university and was even chosen as Miss NSU runner-up in 2004.

After her stint on American Idol, she garnered various awards from different award giving bodies such as Teen Choice Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Gospel Music Association Awards, Country Music Television Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, World Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards, and ultimately four Grammy Awards, in just a span of two years.

Still fresh from her Grammy-award winning fever, Underwood graces the show that launched and escalated her to stardom. This is the second appearance of Underwood on the show after she was crowned the fourth American Idol, the first was last March 2 when she sang “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” This time she is said to perform her current single called “Wasted” from her album “Some Hearts” which has lucratively sold more than 5 million copies since its launch in November of 2005. At present, the said single is ranked number 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, now enduring its fourth week.
