American Idol

Slim pickings this week.  American Idol traveled to Omaha and Miami this past week for auditions and, not only was there a lack of talented singers, there was a decided lack of crazy people to entertain us with their overall ineptitude.  There were a few auditions that were cringe-worthy and I've picked those for week three's Best of the Worst.  One of my choices was Brandon Black from last night's episode. You know, the guy who thought he was a comedian?  I didn't want to include him because he was more question-your-faith-in-humanity bad than humorously bad.  But, as I said, the pickings were slim.

Best of the Worst #1: Johnny Escamilla

Whenever a bad Idol audition begins with the person simply stating that he is one of the weirdest people you'll ever meet, you know you're in for something good.  Johnny did not disappoint.  His bright gold jacket was a nice touch, but his terrible singing, complete with tap-dancing moves and a plethora of jazz hands really sealed the deal.



Best of the Worst #2: Chris Bernheisel

Chris is the very gay, very big fan of American Idol.  He came bearing gifts to the judges and acted like an all-around nut.  His singing was terrible, but when the rejections came it did not phase Chris.  He continued by displaying his reporting chops, showing the judges how great he would be as a red carpet correspondent during the American Idol finale. 



Best of the Worst #3: Brandon Black

I don't even know what to say about Brandon. His comedy shtick was embarrassing.  So, so embarrassing.  It didn't make any sense.  The sheer confidence he displayed in all of his being was totally unfounded and his singing was horrendous.  It's possible he was acting and putting on a show for everyone, but given how unfunny it was, I don't think Brandon is smart enough to put on an act.
