You know exactly what
American Idol wants. They want David vs. David. They want The Youngster vs. The Old Pro.
David Archuleta and
David Cook are completely different singers, appealing to vastly different kinds of
American Idol viewers. We're not to the final two just yet, but it'd take a miracle to stop the inevitable David showdown. Tonight's show did nothing to derail that train. With only four singers left, there wasn't much in the way of results to show on-air.
Ryan Seacrest told two singers at the start of the show that they were safe, and then we all waited forty minutes for the final results. Tonight's Idol was better in terms of the quality of filler, with Maroon 5 and
Bo Bice filling the wait time between initial and final results.

David Cook and David Archuleta were sent to the couches by Seacrest, safe to no one's surprise. That left
Jason Castro and
Syesha Mercado as your bottom two.
Syesha Mercado:
Syesha has turned on in a big way the last few weeks, and is peaking at the right time. Once she realized that she could act on stage, not be herself and really let loose, it's been gravy. Even with her solid performances on Tuesday night and Jason's collapse, Idol fans still weren't convinced that Syesha would be safe. After all, this is the same girl who's been in the bottom two or three countless times. However, she's survived every single time.
Jason Castro:
Jason was happy to be eliminated from
American Idol. Seriously. Once Ryan hit him and America with the news, Jason let out a big sigh of relief. He would've had to learn three songs for next week – he couldn't even get through two this week. It's definitely for the better that Jason is now gone – both for him and the judge's sanity.
Next week, it's down to three contestants, and each will perform three songs.
Did America make the right choice?
