Taylor Hicks, American Idol season 5 champion dishes out on how he achieved his physically fit body. Since his inclusion on American Idol, the former winner has lost 22 pounds, trimming down his weight from 215 pounds to 193 pounds.

The Alabama native also stressed that he follows a “serious exercise regimen,” which consists of running for 45 minutes every other day. He also notes that he likes to disguise himself with a hat to become unnoticed. He explained, "I've walked through a thousand fans and nobody notices…I just take off running. I'm scared about running because I might not ever come back! I would be like Forrest Gump; Run all over the country... pop up in some cool coffee house in Seattle with just my guitar."

Hicks, a 30-year old singer, songwriter and musician, started as an artist performing around the Southeastern United States in his late teens. Prior to his participation to American Idol, he released two independent albums. When he won on the popular reality talent show, he was signed to Artista Records, which enabled him to release his self-titled major label debut.

Part of the reason for Hicks’ healthier direction is his current promotion tour of his self-titled album over 53 cities. He adds, "The fans who come to my shows mean a lot to me. I want to give them a good look. I use a lot of the stage as exercise. [My dance style is] signature me ... it's original and it's authentic. I wear jackets, and with those lights, I'm sweating off, like, two pounds a night!"
