It's time to make some hard choices on
American Idol. By the
judges' accounts, nearly everyone delivered their best performances this
week, and that means it might be time for a shocking elimination, and
maybe even the use of the Judges' Save.
DEFINITELY SAFEPhillip Phillips, Colton Dixon and Skylar Laine are safe, as always, because I'm 98 percent sure they will be the final three singers of the season. Elise Testone is also safe for going last and delivering an amazing performance. I hate to use Randy Jackson's awful catchphrase, but she really did sing the "I don't know what" out of it.
PROBABLY SAFEJessica Sanchez is a heavy favorite, vocally, but the ballad thing is getting old (just ask Pia Toscano). Joshua Ledet had another "take us to church" moment with his song, but I'm not sure his impression of James Brown as a Baptist preacher is enough to keep him around much longer.
MY BOTTOM 3Heejun Han: I do not want him to get eliminated this week because it would be bad for the show. He abandoned his fun, silly sense of humor this week and took the competition seriously, doing everything the judges asked him to do and more. If he gets eliminated for that, it basically mean the judges are a bunch of morons who don't know what they're talking about.
Hollie Cavanagh: I keep referring to Jessica as this year's Pia, but it might be Hollie. She also takes on nothing but ballads, the only difference is that she's not as good a singer as Jessica.
DeAndre Brackensick: Jennifer Lopez begged America to keep him around for a few more weeks. That's a back-handed compliment, because it made it sound as if even J. Lo knows that DeAndre has no shot at all of winning. Hopefully American will ignore her pleas and send him packing.
Carla Patton's Bottom 3 Prediction: Heejun, Hollie and DeAndre
John's Elimination Prediction: DeAndre
Carla's Elimination Prediction: DeAndre (or Heejun)
