Tonight the American Idol
Top 4 take on the most random themeS of
the season. Not only will they perform duets, but they'll also sing
songs written by Californians and songs they wish they'd written. So
basically, anything. Next week I'm sure it will be songs that include
the word "dog" in the lyrics and songs from albums that have flowers
on the cover art.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
The song choices include some incredibly cliche standards ("And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls
), some sappy ballads (Josh Groban) and another CCR song (because two last week wasn't enough).
Here are the songs to be performed.CALIFORNIA SONGS
Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Have You Ever Seen the Rain"
Etta James' "Steal Away"
Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up"
Journey's "Faithfully"SONGS THEY WISH THEY WROTE
"And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" (from Dreamgirls
Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me"
Damien Rice's "Volcano"
James Brown's "It's a Man's Man's Man's World"DUETS
Maroon 5's "This Love"
The Bangles' "Eternal Flame"
Since the show is desperate for Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez to be in the finale, it's a safe bet they'll be tackling Etta James, Josh Groban, James Brown and Dreamgirls
. I fully expect Ledet to earn two more standing ovations.
And with Skylar Laine out of the picture, Hollie Cavangh just might keep on surviving by catering to the country vote by singing some Bonnie Raitt.
But the scariest possibility of all is that the show will once again force Phillip Phillips and Joshua Ledet to duet, maybe on Maroon 5. After last week, I really hope they won't make us listen to another unnatural combination of those two voices.
