American Idol: Top 16 Results Show, Quick Thoughts
Tonight, we're all going to learn who gets to hit the big stage next week.  The American Idol Top 12 will be announced by the time tonight's show is over.  Who is it going to be?  Is Antonella done?  How about Sanjaya?  What's this big announcement we've heard so much about?
  • Wow, a surprising amount of taste shown by the American Idol producers.  The requisite group song that they kick off the results show with is “Stuck in the Middle With You” by Steelers Wheel.  Millions of Americans just had visions of ears being cut off and, worse, Michael Madsen.

  • Okay, so we have the SUPER IMPORTANT AMERICAN IDOL ANNOUNCEMENT THAT WILL KNOCK THE EARTH OFF ITS AXIS AS A RESULT OF ITS IMPORTANCE coming up later tonight.  I remain skeptical, but we'll see.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

  • We got the recap of every single performance from the past week.  If you want a recap in the written form, check out our Quick Thoughts (guys and girls) and Performance Grades (guys and girls).

  • All right, first cut.

  • Lakisha Jones and Blake Lewis get called to the front of the stage.  They're both in to the Top 12.

  • Chris Sligh is called to the stage next.  Chris will have to wait until after the commercial break.  Yikes.  He's in to the top 12.

  • Jordin Sparks is safe, will be in the Top 12.

  • No surprises yet.

  • Phil Stacey up next.  He may be in trouble.  Wow, and he's in the Top 12.  A little surprsing.  That hopefully means that Sanjaya will be sent home.

  • Jared Cotter is next.  He's going home.  Probably the right decision.  Just not dynamic enough.  He seems genuinely shocked.

  • Next cut coming up.

  • Melinda Doolittle and Brandon Rogers are brought up to the stage.  They are both safe.  Okay, this is probably the nail in the coffin for Sanjaya.  It has to be.

  • Gina Glocksen and Chris Richardson are both also safe.

  • Carrie Underwood performs.  I'm not a country music guy, but they do produce some attractive female singers.  Carrie is no exception.

  • Antonella Barba and Stephanie Edwards hit the stage next.  Antonella is done.  The dream is over.  Antonella's cell phone has to be ringing off the hook already.  The question is, will she accept any of these offers?  Will she go the Maxim route?  Will she go the Playboy route?

  • Haley Scarnato and Sabrina Sloan now come to the stage.  Wow, Haley makes it to the Top 12.  That is unbelievable.  However, I kind of have to say, Sabrina didn't have a good performance last night.  Sabrina goes home, much to the chagrin of the judges.

  • The big announcement is about how American Idol is going to be attempting to help stop poverty by trying to raise millions of dollars.  They're going to focus on Africa and on places in America that have been hit by extreme poverty.  For the Top 6 performance show, for every vote cast, sponsors will be giving money, and voters will be able to make their own donations.

  • Sundance Head and Sanjaya Malakar come to the front of the stage.  It better not be Sundance.  I will flip out of Sanjaya sticks around for another week.

  • HOLY !@$#!$@#@$!#@$!#@$!$@#!$@#!$@#

  • Sundance is going home.  This is completely ridiculous.  Screw this.
