Paula Abdul is happy that Kara DioGuardi is the new
American Idol judge. Or, at least that's what she's telling everyone right now. Kara DioGuardi was unveiled to the public yesterday at
American Idol's New York auditions, to much fanfare and much speculation. Everyone wanted to know why she was chosen but, more important, how she's going to fare in the midst of the three judging veterans. In front of the press,
Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and
Simon Cowell are saying all the right things; mainly, that they are very excited to work with Kara.
After a radio interview almost immediately following the announcement of Kara's hiring, in which Paula expressed concern over how Kara would fit in, Paula has taken a much lighter and more positive stance, saying yesterday, “It's about time another girl joined. More girl power.” The judges are currently in Flushing Meadows, New York, working on their first ever auditions as a foursome. As of yesterday, the quartet still had yet to decide how they would be breaking ties. However, Simon had a lot to say, in his usual smarmy, yet joking manner. The new foursome spoke to reporters prior to auditions yesterday.
Simon, on Kara's hiring: "It's like, you know, having dinner with three people for seven years, and getting quite bored of each other. So it's having a fourth person, new opinion, I think it's gonna be interesting."
Simon, on why Kara's a good fit: "Kara has a good reputation of A, having hits; and B, having an opinion. And that's a good combination. And she's cute." To which Kara responded, "You think I'm cute? Oh, good."
Paula, sounding like Paula "I know Kara, and she speaks her mind — so she will be speaking her mind.” Simon responded quickly, with “"That's a nice way of saying she's bitchy.”
It's good to have a little Simon back into our lives.
Will Simon and Kara bicker a lot?
