American Idol: Stalker of Diana DeGarmo to Stand Trial in Australia
Stalkers are a weird bunch.  What possesses a person, who has never, ever met their famous object of affection, to crazily stalk that famous person is beyond me.  But, unfortunately, it happens fairly often.  There are some negative aspects that come with being famous.  Privacy gets thrown out the window, and the constant scrutiny can't be any fun.  But, that comes with the territory.  However, no one deserves the kind of personal invasiveness that comes from having a stalker.  American Idol runner-up Diana DeGarmo is the most recent victim of a stalker, this one of the on line variety.  Tanya Maree Quattrocchi, a 22-year-old from Oak Park, Australia has been wreaking havoc in DeGarmo's life for some time.  Last week, an Australian judge declared that Quattrocchi will have to stand trial for four counts of stalking this January.

Quattrocchi has been sending fake emails to DeGarmo's friends and family, often claiming that DeGarmo was engaging in nefarious sexual acts.  She sent a number of these vulgar e-mails, and also hacked into DeGarmo's MySpace page.  One e-mail, for example, was sent out claiming that DeGarmo wanted to have sex with her own brother.

In a statement regarding the case, DeGarmo said, "I have moved twice and she still finds me. I cannot have any private or professional life without her infiltrating it.  No matter what I do I cannot get away from her. She is still to this day stealing my online identity and harassing my friends, family and myself.”  Disturbing.

In other American Idol news, Simon Cowell is once again a single man.  Just as Cowell has brutally crushed the hopes and dreams of young people nationwide, Cowell's long-time girlfriend Terri Seymour broke the crotchety American Idol judge's heart.  According to People Magazine, she broke up with Cowell over the phone nearly six weeks ago.  The rumored reason is that Cowell didn't want to have children with Seymour, but who knows if that's true or not.
