Lots of updates on the American Idol front today — this, despite the fact that the show isn’t due to return until the start of next year. I guess all that talk about The X Factor is getting the Idols a bit antsy. Or maybe not.

Kelly Clarkson’s got a new song out! Watch the music video for the first Idol winner’s latest single “Mr. Know It All”, part of her upcoming album Stronger.

Jordin Sparks is dating Jason Derulo. Jason who? You know him — the guy behind songs such as “Whatcha Say” and “Ridin’ Solo”, although I know him more for singing his name in Autotune. Both singers won’t confirm anything, but sources tell TooFab that they’re definitely an item. I say good for them.

Stefano Langone gets a management deal. It’s not a record deal yet, but The Hollywood Reporter says the season 10 finalist has signed up with 19 Management, joining fellow finalists Haley Reinhart, Pia Toscano and James Durbin. (On the other hand, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are managed by Simon Fuller’s XIX Entertainment.) Those three have record deals already, and it’s safe to say Stefano’s going to be next. Lesson: it pays to take off your shirt a lot during the American Idol tour.

Speaking of James Durbin: is his album coming out sooner than we thought? Amazon’s got a listing for an album named Memories of a Beautiful Disaster, apparently set for release on November 21.

And finally, here’s a weird crossover: So You Think You Can Dance‘s Alex Wong is auditioning for Idol! Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe tweeted that himself, and Wong confirmed it later on. He joined SYTYCD in season 7 (after being forced to drop out in season 5) but left due to an injury: he was supposed to return as an All-Star this season but was injured anyway.

We’ve got more updates on our Facebook page as we go through this long, long, Idol-less break.
