'American Idol' Roundup: The Tour, the Compilation, and the Fallen
'American Idol' Roundup: The Tour, the Compilation, and the Fallen
And then I start asking myself why I'm still doing these American Idol roundups just as the faucet starts running dry.  Oh, right, the tour, and the compilation album... and a little thing I want to share with you.  It's not really important, so I'll put it at the very bottom of the list.

Item one: Here comes the tracklisting.  It always happens at the end of each season, and the past season is no exception.  The Idol compilation CD is coming out on June 30, and it's got one track from each finalist--well, except for Kris Allen and Adam lambert, who have two tracks each.  But that isn't exactly good news...

1. Kris Allen - "No Boundaries"
2. Danny Gokey - "Stand By Me"
3. Allison Iraheta - "I Can't Make You Love Me"
4. Matt Giraud - "Human Nature"
5. Adam Lambert - "Mad World"
6. Kris Allen - "She Works Hard For The Money"
7. Lil Rounds - "I Surrender"
8. Scott MacIntyre - "Just The Way You Are"
9. Michael Sarver - "You Are Not Alone"
10. Megan Joy - "Walkin' After Midnight"
11. Anoop Desai - "Always On My Mind"
12. Adam Lambert - "No Boundaries"

Admit it--Adam and Kris did a lot of pretty good tunes on the show, so why book-end the album with two versions of "No Boundaries"?  And we all know how bad Adam's version sounded--no offense, but you know what I mean, right?

Item two: Here (almost) comes the tour.  The Associated Press has the usual article on the Top 10 preparing for their nationwide concert tour, which kicks off in a couple of weeks.  What's interesting are the little tidbits that comes with the rehearsals.  Like, say, Kris saying he expects to be with his wife, Katy, on some stops of the tour.  But "she's not following me around," he said.

Or Adam spilling a little bit on how he's coping with recording his first post-Idol album (if you count that other album) and touring: "We're doing a lot of great preliminary work on the album right now ... It's just double-duty, you know, multitasking."

Or Allison Iraheta aiming to get a duet with Adam, after "Slow Ride" rocked the stage and got Simon Cowell suggesting things: "I'm definitely down for that ... that would be so much fun."

And I didn't know she wore braces.  "I'm probably gonna get them out before we hit the first venue"--okay, that thought was moot.

Item three: Here (hopefully) comes the single.  In case you haven't yet, you can enter your details on the Fallen's website--yep, that band with season 7's Carly Smithson and former Evanescence member Ben Moody--and, hopefully, you'll be part of the first 100,000 folks to register and get a free MP3 of one of their songs.  I signed up, and I'm hopeful, quite so...

Well, before that, here's a video taken by the Los Angeles Times of their very first gig in the city. That is an Evanescence song, I think, and man, they do sound alike...
