Elton John week was a little different from Motown week in that there were no true standouts, but some people showed marked improvement. I wonder if Idol
voters are so set in their ways that they won't acknowledge improvement, or if they're going on merit week to week. The Save is out of play, so whoever is in the bottom two is going home for sure. It's very exciting!
Based on a lot of the comments in last night's recap, the poll, and how voters respond to risks that don't pay off, I think Naima will be one of the two going home. She will be the one who isn't a surprise and they'll send her off within the first 30 minutes of show or so. I will miss Naima if she goes home, because even if it was crazy and weird, at least she always tried SOMETHING. Also, I think she has one of the most winning personalities of the bunch.
The second person going home is more difficult to predict. A lot of you (in the comments, and also in my family) don't like Paul, but he has never been in the bottom! For that reason, I don't think he'll be one of the two this week. I'd say he has to produce something truly awful, but...
ANYWAY, I think it will come down to Thia and Stefano for that last seat in the car home. Thia was only recently in the bottom, so she must have a lot of fans out there. I like her, she seems so nice and sweet, and I think last night she had one of her best performances yet (I also liked "Heat Wave"). But "Heat Wave" got her in trouble, and she's not measuring up to the rest of the talent and personality in the group. It just feels like she can't stay too much longer, that she doesn't have any surprises in store for us.
Speaking of surprises, Haley usually makes it onto this list but she really brought it together last night. I'm actually hoping the voters acknowledge how much she's grown. I wasn't a Haley fan in the beginning, but her performance of "Benny and the Jets" was surprisingly good. It wasn't the best, but I think it will keep her safe this week.
Okay, so back to Stefano. Stefano was just alright last night, not his best. He didn't have the judges on their feet or anything, and Randy didn't lose his mind over it. Stefano was in the bottom two last week, and for that reason I think he'll be in the bottom two again this week. Unlike Casey's performance, Stefano's was not good enough to keep him out of danger.
Wouldn't it be a totally exciting shock if Pia and James were in the bottom? I think Lauren saved herself this week, and has a strong enough following to keep her safe from the double elimination, and the same goes for Jacob. Also, I think Scotty is in it until at least the top 6 or 7.
UPDATE: I just figured out something about Paul that I've been trying to put my finger on for a while now. He sounds a lot like Adam Sandler's joke-singing. Like, from the early 90's when he was singing the beginning of "Lunch Lady Land"
? Right? Watch the video on that link if you don't believe me.
